6 Ways To Optimize Your Blog Posts For SEO

If you have a blog, chances are you already understand the importance of business blogging.
But do you know how to optimize your blog posts to make them more search engine friendly?
The truth is, many bloggers fail to take advantage of the enormous marketing potential of their blogs. In fact, a recent study by blogger.com shows that although roughly 60% of businesses have blogs, 65% of those blog owners haven’t even updated in the past year! By providing fresh, relevant content and performing basic blog post optimization, you can take advantage of the many benefits blogging offers

Here are six easy search engine optimization (SEO) tips to help get your blog noticed.

  1. Do your research. Keyword research is essential for on page optimization. Chances are you are naturally including keywords without realizing it simply by providing valuable content on a topic. However, there are a variety of tools and techniques for finding related keywords relevant to your blog post that you may not have considered. The Google Adwords Keyword Tool and semrush.com both offer great tools that allow you to find keywords related to your topic and even spy on your competition to see what words and phrases they are targeting to bring traffic to their sites.

  2. Utilize keywords throughout your post. Once you have targeted a couple of valuable, relevant keywords, it is important to place them where they will have the most impact for humans and search engine crawlers indexing your content. Try to include them in the following places:
    • Title
    • Headings and subheadings
    • Introductory sentence
    • Concluding paragraph
    • Anchor text (text you hyperlink to other related pages on your site)
    • Title tags and meta descriptions
A word of caution: Don’t engage in keyword stuffing, which is the act of filling your content with so many keywords that it becomes difficult to read. Not only will this irritate your blog followers, it will also get you penalized by Google. A couple of strategically placed keywords will do the trick.
  3. Optimize your images. Whenever you upload a photo to your blog, be sure to include keywords in the file name and fill out the alternate text field with a brief, keyword rich description of the photo.

  4. Reference others with links. When you mention another blogger or article in your blog post, include a link to the information you are referencing. Not only is it good blogging etiquette, but you may also get lucky and receive a link back. Quality links are a valuable commodity for any site looking to rank higher in search engine results pages.

  5. Give readers the opportunity to subscribe to your blog. Include prominently placed RSS or Feed Subscription Buttons and offer viewers the ability to subscribe to your posts via email when possible. This allows your blog followers to have instant notification of your latest posts without having to periodically check your site for new content.

  6. Use social media to broaden the reach of your blog posts. As a small business, you may be utilizing Facebook, Twitter, Google+, or other social media sites to create connections with potential and current customers. Why not promote your blog content on these sites for even more web exposure? Free programs like Hootsuite make it easy to post links to your latest blog post on all of your social media sites with just a couple of clicks. You can even schedule your posts ahead of time!
By following these simple SEO tips, you can encourage higher rankings in SERPS, increased web traffic, and higher customer conversion rates.

Bringing SEO, Social Media and Content Marketing together

SEO, social media, and content marketing all have their strong points. In order to achieve maximum results, each must work together effortlessly. Many companies do quite well with one of the three, but find it difficult to integrate them all into a cohesive marketing strategy. The tips below will help if your brand is experiencing difficulties in cohesively deploying SEO, social media, and content marketing that allows each element to complement one another while taking advantage of their own inherent strengths.

Identify Your Objectives

It is a well known fact that you will experience problems in hitting a target if you have not first identified it. Toward that end, it is important to first decide what it is that you wish to accomplish with your social media, content marketing and SEO marketing strategy. This could vary based on your company’s needs. Your goals could be to increase awareness or to boost sales. Regardless of your specific objective, it is important to ensure you have set a specific goal before actually beginning to work on your marketing strategies.

Far too often, many companies fall into the trap of realizing that they need to focus on SEO, social media, and content marketing, and then disparately approaching them. Each one is important, but each individual marketing strategy also rests on the other two.

Start with Content First

Social media is without a doubt vital to any successful marketing campaign. With that said, in order to develop a successful social media campaign, you need good content. Your prospective customers will not follow you on Twitter, Facebook or any other channel if you do not provide relevant, interesting and valuable content. This means that before you can even begin to think about launching a social media campaign, you must first have a solid content marketing plan that includes quality material.

The key with a successful content marketing campaign is to make sure it does not come off as too promotional. You will not see much success if all of your content is about your company, your deals, and offers. The best course of action you can take is to position your company so that you are recognized as an expert in your respective field. One way to do this is by producing content that includes helpful resources, tips, guides, etc. Many firms are hesitant to provide this type of information for free because they believe their customers will not want to pay for their services. The goal here is for your target customers to be so impressed by what you have to say that they will begin to follow you regularly and contact you. Additionally, it is important to remember that it is possible to give away some information but not everything.

Plan your Social Media Strategy Around Your Content

Once you have a solid content marketing plan in place with a content production calendar, you can then begin working on your social media marketing plan and finding the best venue to promote the content you have created. Social media gives you a wealth of options to choose from, including such channels as Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus and LinkedIn. In deciding which platform is best for publishing a specific piece of content, it is important to take a variety of factors into consideration, including the type of content you want to publish and the typical audience for that platform.

Analyze, Rinse and Repeat

Publishing your content on social media is where you can take advantage of true SEO benefits. Google Analytics and other social media tools, such as SumAll or Socalight can give you tremendous insight into which type of content was most appealing to your target audience. Review the number of page views you received from each piece, but do not forget to also evaluate the number shares, likes, comments, and retweets, as this can provide you with insight, as well. Reviewing these types of analytics will give you the ability to fine-tune and optimize your content so that it will be more appealing and drive better results as time goes by.

10 Advanced SEO Tips & Tricks 2015

The search marketing industry has been growing quickly, so has the SEO competition between businesses during the last years. As a result, even if we implement all the basic SEO actions as choosing our targeted keywords, implementing the right h1-h2, adding more than 600 words in our landing pages and implementing the best image alt tags, still our landing pages do not earn top search rankings on Google.

So how could we distinguish our landing page from our competitors?

Below, you can find the top 10 Advanced SEO Tips that could make the difference as for your online performance:

Advanced SEO Tip 1: Implementation of “rel publisher”

First, you need to create a Google Plus Page for your website. Then you should add the below part of the code (replace “https://plus.google.com/115027100760018374925/posts” with your G+ URL):

https://plus.google.com/115027100760018374925/posts ”
/>

Adding it in the of the website’s source code, you manage to connect your website with your Google Business Page. This would give you an advantage on personalized results. So when someone “like” your post or page at Google Plus and then perform a similar search query, your relative landing pages will appear in the first results of Google.

Advanced SEO Tip 2: Implementation of “schema.org”

Implementing this rich snippet you can improve the CTR of your organic results. In this way, you help the user to search directly what he is looking for into your website and also improve your organic results by making it easier for the user to click on them (http://schema.org/SearchAction).

Example:

Advanced SEO Tip 3: Implementation of “rel alternate” (when there is a mobile version)

By implementing the below part of the code:

in the of your website, you could help Google to detect the desktop version from the mobile version.

Advanced SEO Tip 4: Implementation of “href-lang”

In case you have a multi – language website, you need to implement the rel=”alternate” hreflanf=”x” to inform Google about which language you are using on a specific page, so that it can serve that result to users searching in that language.
To achieve this, you need to add the below part of the code in the of your website:

Don’t forget to check for the right implementation in Google Webmaster Tools (click on “Search Traffic” and then “International Targeting”.)

Advanced SEO Tip 5: Implementation of Google Analytics filter

In order to count in the right way the traffic from images on Google as organic traffic, you need to modify Google Images (example: google.fr / referral) -> (to) Organic Traffic

Step 1 (Create a New View)

Step 2 (Create the First Filter)

Now we need to create our first filter so as to gather all the google.xx reported as referral traffic.
Put “google images” at the “Campaign Source” field and put the below filter inside Field A:

.*google.(fr|de|co.uk|ca|co.in|it|ru|co.th|nl|pl|es|gr|be|co.jp|se|co.za|ch|dk|ae|ro|co.nz|pt|fi|co.il|hu|cz|co.kr|rs|ie|at|no|bg|
sk|lt|co.id|hr|cl|lv|az|by|si|co.ve|mu|ge|ee|dz|tn|az)/imgres.*

Step 3 (Create the Second Filter)

With this filter, we state as medium for the campaign source the “google images” as the organic traffic.

To apply this filter we choose as “Filter Type”: Advanced and we use as “Campaign Source”: google images and as “Campaign Medium”: organic

Step 4 (Change the Organic Channel)

Next step is to click on “Channel Settings”-> “Channel Grouping” -> Edit the channel “Organic Search”.

Step 5 (Change the Organic Channel / Step 2)

Now it is time to start counting “google images” traffic into the Organic Channel. Follow the next steps:
1. Click the “OR” button on the right side
2. Choose “Source/ Medium”
3. Choose “contains: google images / organic”

Now the traffic from google.fr (or any other country) that was appearing as referral will count as organic as it should be.

Advanced SEO Tip 6: Creation of Events to decrease the Bounce Rate

Google Analytics counts as bounce rate when a user enters your website and then leaves without moving to any other pages. However, if someone visits your website and stays on your landing page for more than 1 minute maybe he founds what he needs and he does not want to move to another page.

For such reasons, you need to create an event to decrease the Bounce Rate as below:

setTimeout (“ga(‘send’,’event’,’Actions you choose’,’time on page more than 1 minutes’)”,60000);

The “60000” represents the time you choose as the desired one for a user in milliseconds.

Advanced SEO Tip 7: New METAs Implementation

If your website is responsive, then it will rank also in the mobile devices with the METAs that you have already implemented. So if you would like your METAs to be optimized also for mobile devices, the meta title should not overpass the 55 characters and the meta description should not overpass the 115 characters. Otherwise, the METAs will not appear completely on Google.

Advanced SEO Tip 8: Internal link building strategy

By sending internal links only to pages of the same or below category level, you manage not only to make stronger the pages where you send the link but also not to weaken the page from where the link is sent.
For example, if you send from an internal page a link to the homepage all the link juice and value is going to the homepage and you devalue the internal page making it very difficult to rank on the SERPs.

Advanced SEO Tip 9: Add image & video sitemap

If you create an image (and a video sitemap), you help Google to crawl all the images and videos and understand which pages contain also a video. Google tends to give value to images and videos and as a result this helps your pages to rank better on Google results.

Advanced SEO Tip 10: Add “internal search box” and find new ideas for long tail keywords

By adding an internal search box in your website, you can monitor through Analytics the keywords the visitors are searching for. In this way, you not only give visitors a way to quickly find the information they need but you can also find new keywords and create new landing pages to target them.
Make the difference

As Google is a fast growing business, we need to do more and more actions to follow this trend along with trying to survive from the tough competition. These small tips could help you differentiate your website from other ones and boost your website’s rankings on the top Google’s search engine results.
